This essay was in response to James Paul Gee’s “Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics: An Introduction” and Jacey Fortin’s “Access to Literacy is not a Constitutional Right”. It examined the relationships between these pieces especially gates, Discourses, and education. It explained why these ideas are related to each other and related to society as a whole.
